Our journey into the unknown began Saturday night, October 14, with a trip to King's Tavern of Natchez. With two television cameras, several film and digital cameras and a host of other monitoring equipment, our merry band of "Ghostbusters" attempted to capture evidence of King Tavern's mischievous spirit, Madeline, by staying overnight in the area of the Tavern even employees won't frequent. (investigation aired November 3)
Next, we went to St. Francisville, Louisiana, and visited Myrtles Plantation on Sunday. Known as "America's Most Haunted Place," due to the hundreds of spirits entrenched on its property, Myrtles is home to the ghost of Chloe. This former young slave girl has a special knack of tucking in guests who spend the night. (investigation aired October 31)
Monday night was originally to conclude our tour with an overnighter at McRaven in Vicksburg, "Mississippi's Most Haunted House." Unfortunately, neither NEWSCHANNEL 12 or the Ghost Preservation League were able to contact the current owner to complete arrangements. Instead, we studied the Texas Monument in the Vicksburg National Military Park.(investigation aired November 10)
Our next investigation took place at Merrehope of Meridian on Thursday, November 9. This mansion hasn't had overnight guests for years and no television camera crew has spent time there. The home is haunted by two spirits: Eugenia Gary - whose spirit didn't show up at the home until her portrait was placed on an upstairs wall; and Marcus - an alcoholic teacher who shot himself in an upstairs bedroom. Eugenia has often been seen staring out windows and Marcus slams doors and stomps around. (investigation aired November 17)
